Gulf Fritillary

found this critter stiff and barely
moving
on my driveway at the end of the fall. He would not fly and a hard
freeze was predicted that night. He had already survived several
milder freezes in the weeks preceding. I picked out a last gasp
flower and posed him and the flower and tried some macros with the
24-70 lens on my Canon 5D with a studio monoblock at 4 inches or
so. A series resulted of which this was one of the betters. Ill
load one of its mates later on What’s new. As all things of the
summer he is no longer with us.
